  1. Alarm Triggers

Show Actual Value

Last updated 1 year ago

Some widgets will display text status messages, instead of numerical values. These status messages are pulled from a list that is curated by the InSite team.

When using a comparison other than 'equal to' (=), a new checkbox will appear with "Show Actual Value". This option enables whether or not the Notification message will display text from the status message list, or display the value that decides the list text message.

It is recommended to check this box for Status Message type Notifications, but not for analog values such as Gas Flow or Temperature tags.

When using "equal to" (=) then the notification will attempt to use the list value if one is available.

For lists that are longer than a simple True/False set of messages, such as this one where we can see that a value of 0 in our FAULT FLARE list is NONE, or no fault.

It is recommended to set the alarm trigger to Not Equal (!=) to your Normal Value. Be sure to check the box for Show Actual Value.

This can be the difference between a detailed message vs an obscure message for your operations personnel.

Here is an example of a status message list. The list in use by a tag can be viewed by entering on the Dashboard and then clicking on a widget. If you do not have access to a Dashboard to edit, you can or navigate to the tag within the tree view.
